About us...

At Mystique Maltese, we are a small hobby breeder in the suburban areas of Charleston, WV. We became a Maltese centered family over 15 years ago. We have done extensive research into the best ways to care for and love this special breed.

We have always focused on providing healthy, happy babies for those families looking for the right angel to add to their lives. Previously, we have raised high quality pets registered under the CKC. We have recently decided to expand our crew and also provide AKC registered puppies to those who prefer AKC registration or those who may be wanting to enter the show dog world. Stayed tuned and join our email list for notifications on upcoming litters.

We offer "GROUND TRANSPORTATION" delivery with the first 3 hours of travel time being FREE of charge. Each additional hour of travel time is $100/hr. For commutes exceeding 8 travel hours a $100 administrative fee applies. We calculate our delivery fees based on a one way trip.

Examples:

  • Estimated travel time from my location to yours is 5 hours 25 minutes
  • 5 hours 25 mins - 3 hours (FREE) = 2 hours 25 mins (rounds up to 3 hours)
  • 3 hours travel time x $100/hr = $300 delivery fee
  • Estimated travel time from my location to yours is 8 hours 45 minutes
  • 8 hours 45 mins - 3 hours (FREE) = 5 hours 45 mins (rounds up to 6 hours)
  • 6 hours travel time x $100/hr = $600 + $100 admin fee = $700 delivery fee

How do I assist with tear staining?

While there is a genetic component to consider, there are ways to minimize the tear staining in your Maltese. We recommend giving spring or filtered water from stainless steel bowls, using saline to topically clean debris and combat from the inside out by providing an occasional treat of a spoonful of plain Greek yogurt or few fresh blueberries as both have the ability to neutralize the bad bacteria that helps cause the stains.

I live in an apartment. Will my dog be sad without a large yard?

No. Maltese are a toy breed that are classified as companion dogs who do not need a lot of space to be happy. They do well in apartment settings, however they do need some space or opportunity to exercise and do the "zoomies."

What's the difference between CKC and AKC?

The main difference between CKC (Continental Kennel Club) and AKC (American Kennel Club) is that CKC registered animals are typically considered pets only (although there are some sanctioned CKC dog shows, they aren't as many and often carry a different level of notoriety); while AKC registered dogs are able to partake in dog shows more widely and of higher national review due to the fact that all AKC registered dogs MUST come from a linage containing show dog championships. AKC dogs are generally scrutinized more closely against the breed standards.
